yes cross linking mean link exchange..and they are very useful in offpage optimizaton .because it helps in creating backlinks...and backlinks are more effective in ranking

but dear be care ful while exchaging backlinks as the search engine mostly get that you've get paid link so in that case that link may not be useful for you...

Cross linking prefers to the method of linking among two sites. Cross Linking is when a group of domains that are mainly often owned by the same individual inner link to each other.

It allows users to reference sites with content similar to that which they are already viewing, and may be of further interest to them.

Cross Linking Means Two Way Linking If you want to create Cross Link the you can use Two way Linking.
