Language-Dubai

Postby angel32 on Mon Jul 04, 2011 7:43 am

The official language of the country is Arabic, however most people in and out of the workplace communicate in English. There are so many different nationalities in Dubai and therefore English finds common ground with most people. The majority of road, shop signs, and restaurant menus etc. are in both English and Arabic.

Yep, what MH said, after 3.5 years in Holland, I still couldn't speak much. I (used to) understand most of what I heard but you rarely get the chance to speak as all the cloggies wanna practice their English on you (even though most are better than fluent!)

The National Language in Dubai is Arabic which speaks a lot about the country and its people. Naturally, although the official language in Dubai is Arabic, other languages like English, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Bengali and Tagalog are widely spoken.

Language is the most important marker of identity for a country and the National Language in Dubai
is Arabic which speaks a lot about the country and its people. Although according to the Constitution of the country the official language in Dubai is Arabic , yet English is widely spoken and different regional languages are also often used.
