Jumeirah Mosque

Postby angel32 on Thu Jun 30, 2011 11:36 am

One of the most beautiful mosques in Dubai is the one in Jumeirah. It was built in 1983 but still has the traditional style from older mosques. As non-muslims are not allowed to enter a mosque, you’ll only be able to admire the beauty of the building from outside.
It was only after returning to Germany, that I also noted a possibility to enter this building as a non-muslim. For that, please check the link below.

To the best of my knowledge the Jumeirah Mosque is the only mosque in Dubai that "allows" non-Muslims to enter. Once you enter the mosque you are asked to sit in the main "room" and an English guide explains the tenets of Islam and allows for a question and answer period.

I was aware of the Jumeirah Mosque but was not knowing that it is the only place that allows the non-Muslims. Thanks for sharing.

The Jumeirah Mosque is a stunning example of Islamic architecture. It is built in the medieval Fatimid style using modern building techniques and is widely considered to be the finest mosque in Dubai. This is a great tour for those that may not be familiar with Islam. It provides an insight into the culture and religion of the UAE.

Yes the entry is possible for non Muslims in this Mosque. The authority allowed non-Muslims in Mosque to provide the knowledge about the Muslim religion and traditions There is no need of prior booking. You will have to assemble at the rear of the mosque (Jumeirah Mosque) at 10.00am on Thursday (every week). Ladies need to be covered - long skirts/trousers, long sleeves, hat/scarf for the head. Gentlemen need to wear trousers - Tshirt or shirt and not a vest. You need to take off your shoes before entering the mosque.
