Those who had imagined eating plenty of the sweet treats got through only half as plenty of the actual thing as the others, including those who had thought about eating.

Those who had just imagined eating lots of the sweet treats got through only half as many of the real thing as the others, including those who had thought about eating just two or three.

I think food really worth a huge to me.
Healthy eating is not about strict nutrition philosophies, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, and keeping yourself as healthy as possible– all of which can be achieved by learning some nutrition basics and using them in a way that works for you.

Healthy eating begins with learning how to “eat smart”—it’s not just what you eat, but how you eat. Your food choices can reduce your risk of illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, as well as defend against depression. Additionally, learning the habits of healthy eating can boost your energy, sharpen your memory and stabilize your mood. You can expand your range of healthy food choices and learn how to plan ahead to create and maintain a satisfying, healthy diet.

I have become a little neurotic about weighing my food. This is because

1) I feel it is more accurate

2) I eat a lot of homemade recipes, and weight is the easiest way to evaluate an appropriate portion size.

3) Many foods I eat are shared with family.

For example, it is easier to record 3.6 oz of scrambled eggs than to evaluate how much of the 6 eggs made in a skillet for the family went to me. It is easier to say I ate 1.2 oz of apple than to deduce what percent of my whole apple the baby and preschooler shared with me.

4) I have learned that nearly all Calorie Counter foods have an entry for ounces. Not all foods have an entry for 'cups', etc.....which is lousy when you are putting your food into the computer at the end of the day.

The Downside:

1) Weighing food adds to my perfectionist nature, so if I can't weight food (like the M&M cookie swiped from the freezer in the garage), I may not write it down.

2) Does the extra work of weighing food set me up for failure? It IS easier to write down 1 apple compared to weighing an recording 5.6 ounces of apple.

3) What happens when I am out and about and don't have my scale with me? I feel like I need a disaster plan!!! *being overly dramatic*
