I also have a family of six so I know what you are going through with booking hotel rooms. I have never been to Toronto or Vancouver so I am no expert there! However, I always pick "Suite" hotels or condo/time share units for my family. Sometimes you will find a "Suite" that has 2 full bedsin the main bedroom and then a pull out couch in the main living area. I usually also ask for a roll-away cot.
