Diani Beach

Postby mustobe on Wed Apr 06, 2011 12:18 am

Hello

I am thinking of going to Diani beach in the next couple of weeks or so. There is limited availability left so was wondering whether to just pick a cheaper hotel and eat out once I got there. Does anyone know what prices are like to eact out in Diani, whether there is a wide range of places to eat/drink and what the weather will be like in April. I have heard it rains but wasnt sure this was more related to going on a safari. Thank you

You will also get the opportunity to observe mantas, barracuda and turtles as well as a multitude of other marine creatures at close range. The adventurous tourist will take advantage of the opportunity to hire a traditional vessel known as a dhow so as to take a cruise along the shores of the area. A much favoured destination is the Kisite Marine National Park, situated in proximity to the Tanzanian border, which is a location which provides exceptional visual treats for snorkelers.

Diani Beach is a major beach resort, lying on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya, 30 km south of Mombasa.
It is located along a beautiful white-sanded beach which is about 25 km long and it merges with the small town of Ukunda which is home to a small airstrip. The area is known for its coral reefs, the closely located Shimba Hills National Reserve and for its black-and-white colobus monkeys. It has high-class restaurants, hotels and has two shopping centres.

I would like to share a point..
The beach is the area's major attraction - long, soft, white and lovely, it comes close to the tropical ideal. The offshore reef offers rewarding snorkelling; it also keeps waves at bay, making paddling and swimming close to shore a pleasure, and providing perfect conditions for windsurfing lessons. The only drawbacks are the seaweed that gets washed up from time to time, the tides which, at their highest, cover much of the sand, and the hustlers (known locally as beach boys) who can be hard to shake off.

its a great place to visit and have fun..
thanks....

This is my favorite beach! Although I know it is not as beautiful as the Caribbean beach, this beach always become on my first list!

Kenya is a top place for luxury holidays. In Diani Beach there's elegant hotels, upmarket shops and some pretty fresh seafood. And that is for starters. With the lovely laid-back atmosphere, you cannot help but take it simple. The best beaches on Mombasa's shoreline are present in Diani, with soft white sand, a calm atmosphere and watersports including diving and snorkelling. Reached by taking a short ferry ride over Mombasa Creek, this beach escape sits on the southern coast and feels more untouched, with superb hotels and several little shopping malls to distract you from the sun.
