I think the capital of Australia is sometimes best for you!

The capital of Australia is Canberra, and it is probably the last place in the whole country that should be considered for anything like a honeymoon. I would suggest looking at some of the beach locations in Queensland, including Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands. If budget isn't an issue, the Hayman resort on Hayman Island would make a great choice.
Visit the amazing Whitsundays in Queensland, Australia.

I honestly feel the most romantic places I personally have been in Australia are the Red Center and up North of Townsville in a little rain forest retreat that has since closed down. There are some gorgeous hotels on the Gold Coast near Brisbane too, but the Gold Coast is a huge tourist destination so it is a little busy.

Among the premier places to visit in Australia - The Gold Coast has plenty of fun, surf and sun, there is also adventure exploring the historic rural communities in the north to border towns and coastal centres in the south and of course the top end of coastal New South Wales. Enjoy expanses of pristine beaches and watch surfers tame the waves or take the plunge yourself. And just a short drive inland to the Gold Coast hinterland, you'll feel as though you're miles away from everything. A vast selection of accommodation is situated within an easy wander of local beaches and shopping centres.
I like staying at: Tuscany Villas.

I have heard a lot about Gold Coast and it really seemed to be a good destination for a honeymoon. I used to travel abroad but never been to this place. Australia would be my next aim. Wish I could go there soon.. :)

Our honeymoon was on Wilson Island, via Heron Island, via Gladstone. This place was fantastic. My husband and I love the water so we spent so much time snorkelling and the rest been spoilt by our hosts with amazing food and wine. Would recommend to anyone who just wants to relax in tranquility.

The east coast of Australia is the focal point of the country's activities. The east coast is also famous for endless miles of coastline that are the source of Australia's beach lifestyle. Hyams Beach at Jervis Bay south of Sydney, Australia has the whitest sand on earth; Queensland's Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world ringed by wide white beaches, monstrous towering sand dunes and populated with great stands of ancient trees. Sydney's city beaches are among Australia's most famous. The shores hold surf beaches, secret harbor beaches, dramatic cliff headlands, and sleepy bays, all within Australia's largest city.
